MEET JIM BUCK
Senator Jim Buck has dedicated his life to serving the people of Indiana with integrity, experience, and a deep respect for conservative values. A lifelong Hoosier, Jim was raised with the belief that hard work, faith, and personal responsibility build strong families and strong communities.
Before entering public service, Jim built a successful career in manufacturing, small business, and real estate — working first as a tool-and-die mold maker, later running his own small business, and eventually becoming a licensed real-estate broker. That hands-on experience in business shaped his belief in limited government, fiscal responsibility, and policies that allow small businesses and workers to thrive.
Jim earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees — including an MBA — from Indiana Wesleyan University, where he developed the skills and leadership principles that guide his work today.
In the Senate, Jim serves as Chairman of the Local Government Committee and sits on several key committees, including Environmental Affairs, Judiciary, Rules & Legislative Procedure, and Veterans & Military Affairs. He has also served as Majority Floor Leader Emeritus, reflecting the trust and respect of his colleagues.
Throughout his career, Jim has championed:

- Support for veterans, families, and first responders
- Policies that strengthen Indiana’s economy and communities
His leadership has earned statewide recognition – including the Indiana Chamber of Commerce’s Champion of Small Business Award and honors from the Indiana State Police Alliance for his consistent support of law enforcement and public safety.
Outside the Statehouse, Jim is deeply involved in civic and charitable organizations. He’s a proud member of the Rotary Club, Masonic Lodge No. 93, and serves as Vice-President of the We Care Board. He also serves on the Indiana University Kokomo Advisory Board, where he helps support the university’s mission of expanding educational opportunities and community engagement across north central Indiana.
Jim and his wife Judy live in Kokomo, where they raised their five daughters and remain active in their church and community.

Jim Buck is 100% Pro-Life and a staunch defender of Second Amendment rights. Recognized as one of Indiana’s most conservative state senators, he never compromises on our core values.
Lowering Taxes And Cutting Spending
Jim Buck has consistently voted to reduce wasteful government spending and cut taxes. He helped cut tens of millions of dollars from the state’s most recent operating budget and has voted to cut Indiana’s income tax, making it one of the lowest in the country.
Securing Our Elections
Jim Buck fights to ensure only legal votes count and that Hoosiers can trust their election process. He has voted to strengthen Indiana’s Voter ID law, which remains one of the strongest in the nation, and to improve the integrity of our voter lists.
Improving Education By Empowering Parents
Jim Buck believes that parents – not bureaucrats – should decide what’s best for their children. He supports all schools – public, private and home schools – but understands each child has unique needs and that parents should remain in control of their children’s education.
Combating Illegal Immigration
Having visited the southern border with TX Governor Greg Abbott, Jim Buck has seen firsthand the challenges states face in dealing with illegal immigration. He’s protecting Indiana by banning sanctuary cities and ensuring our local law enforcement cooperates with ICE to keep dangerous, illegal criminals out of our communities.
